Metro 4 Milano (2015-in corso)

Background

Line M4 is a Milan subway line currently under construction that will connect the city at its opposite points (EAST-WEST), from Linate Airport to San Cristoforo. The M4 line is also called the blue line; in fact, the line will be identified with the color blue both in maps as well as in station and train furnishings. It will cross the M1 line at San Babila station and the M2 line at Sant’Ambrogio station. The City of Milan also announced that a pedestrian underpass will be created to connect the Sforza-Policlinico station of the M4 line with the M3 line at either Crocetta or Missori stations. It will also cross some lines of the Milan Suburban Service at the San Cristoforo, Dateo and Forlanini F.S. stations. The entire line is scheduled to open in 2022 with as many as 21 stations and will be Italy’s first driverless subway.

The Group’s Work

The work started in 2015 is on-going with a project scheduled for completion between 2020 and 2021. As of today by the Migliaccio Group at the service of contractors, 5 pumps from 35mt to 50mt in height, concrete pumps with a boom between 28 and 32 mt and 10 concrete mixers have been put on site. The fleet of machines provided is used daily at the site. In addition, the concrete mixers are loaded in classic plants or with remotely controlled plants. Part of the casting was done in central areas of the city that were often ztl zones, despite the tight spaces to cast safely the pumps were always placed again. The pumps were always placed on the surface but the jets crossed 3 existing subway lines, so for most of the jets more or less long pipe lines were added. In some cases these types of jets were performed under the supervision of two operators.
