Porto Mirabello, La Spezia (2008-2010)

Background

Porto Mirabello is located in the center of the Gulf of Poets, its natural conformation offers optimal protection from all adverse weather conditions, and the surrounding mountains maintain a mild microclimate and optimal breeze for sailing. The Port represents the only marine facility in Italy to have been built directly on the sea; In fact, it is composed of an artificial peninsula of 40,000 square meters and a body of water totaling about 270,000 square meters that keeps the coast unaltered, enhancing its incontrovertible nautical vocation. The complex, connected to the city of La Spezia by a pedestrian bridge, is equipped with every comfort and state-of-the-art technology.

The Group’s Work

In 2008, in cooperation with Calcestruzzi S.p.a, the Migliaccio Group worked on the construction of the Mirabello port in La Spezia. Five concrete mixers, with 4 or 3 axles, 3 concrete pumps and a Putzmeister K35 were put to work. The fleet alternates but most of the work was done by the K35. Concrete pours were quite fast and could range from 50 to 200 cubic meters pumped per day. In addition, a high-performance cls with exposure class for marine environment was used. Mainly, the work was directed to the construction of the docks, once these were finished the concrete castings were devoted to the ancillary works such as parking lots and various buildings, work that was done for the most part by concrete pumps. The work was completed in 2010.
