Binario Verona-Bologna – Ponte sul Fiume Po (2006-2015)

Background

The Bologna-Verona railway is a railway line that passes through the territories of the provinces of Verona, Mantua, Modena and Bologna. It is considered an important axis of the Italian railway route, as it connects the Brenner railway to Florence-Bologna and then to Rome. The line is part of Railway Axis 1 of the Trans-European Conventional Rail Network TEN-T. After being single-track for most of its route and for almost all of its history, it has been subject to a doubling project in recent years, which was completed on July 26, 2009, with the opening of the second track between the Ostiglia North communication point and the Poggio Rusco station.

The Group’s Work

In 2006, in collaboration with Betonrossi, the Migliaccio Group took part in the work on the Bridge over the Po, a new track connecting Verona to Bologna, crossing the province of Mantua, specifically in Revere.

The Group provided 4 pumps and 2 concrete mixers for the project. On the front line there was Putzmeister 46, which from the ground received the concrete from the cement mixer and through the boom pumped it into the tank of the first K41, which was waiting on the first barge and which in turn distributed it to the other two K41s. The concrete destined for the last K41 was for the construction of the piers on which the bridge would rest. Then, the Group was called to take action in Piacenza in 2015, to fill existing bridge piers that needed refilling due to risk of collapse. In this case, 2 pumps were made available, one with a boom above 50mt in height, the other one a K21.
