Background
The COCIV – Consorzio Collegamenti Integrati Veloci is a consortium established in 1991, a general subcontractor of TAV SpA (short for High Speed Train S.p.A.) for the design and construction of the Tortona/Novi Ligure Genoa High-Speed Railway Line also known as “Terzo Valico” (Third Crossing)
The Terzo Valico is, in fact, a new high-speed line and will make it possible to strengthen the connections of the Ligurian port system with the main rail lines in northern Italy, thus connecting Genoa to Milan. The work is part of the Rhine-Alpine Corridor, one of the corridors of the strategic trans-European transport grid that connects Europe’s most densely populated and industrially important regions.
The Group’s Work
The Migliaccio Group took part in the construction works of the tunnels planned for the passage of the Milan-Genoa high-speed train in 2013. These works are still ongoing with the use of our vehicles, including 6 concrete mixers set up in 24-hour shifts, a wheeled pump and a spritz, with booms from 35 to 41 meters. Most of the work was carried out in tunnels, and where works that had already been finished were crossed, coordination was carried out in a specific manner and the walls of the newly excavated tunnel were frozen by concrete casting, so as to prevent landslide phenomena. Along the section some areas required work with booms longer than 50 meters.
